St Stephen is the first Martyr of the Church; his martyrdom is recorded in the Acts of the Apostles, chapter 7. What is wonderful about his testimony is that, in verse 1 of chapter 8, we see that Saul (later St Paul) is seen as participating in his death. The power of the Gospel is that even the enemies of Christ can repent and come to serve Him!
