St Thomas, one of the Twelve, is known for his doubting. “Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.” (St John 20:25b) Rather than condemning him for his skepticism, our Lord shows Himself to the Apostle. At seeing Christ Resurrected, St Thomas gives one of the clearest claims of Christ’s Deity in his exclamation to Him: “My Lord and my God!” (St John' 20:28b). He becomes such a strong proclaimer and defender of the Faith that he evangelizes India, even becoming a martyr there for the Faith.
